Pasta Vs Noodles
*Pasta and Noodles*
Good morning friends, 😀😀 trust you’re up-and-going today? I wish students can line up on a queue 🚶🚶🚶🚶 to read this article… Smiles. But the social media hasn’t been developed to have such a feature 😝. Maybe someone out there will envision that for me 😉. Lmao... 😂😂😂
Students will be interested in this article because ‘pasta and noodles’ is our thing.
...
Let’s get started… What is Pasta?
Pasta is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine, it is typically made from an unleavened dough of a durum wheat flour mixed with water or eggs, and formed into various shapes, then cooked by boiling or baking. Students love pasta because it is a versatile, inexpensive and convenient meal to prepare, making it a popular choice even for families likewise.
Caloric ratio pyramid for cooked spaghetti with enriched salt, goes thus; Carbohydrates (81%), Fats (5%), Protein (14%). The food is very low in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Thiamin, Folate and Manganese, and a very good source of Selenium. When eaten in moderation, pasta can be part of a healthy diet.
Whole-grain pasta may be a better choice for many, as it is lower in calorie and carbs but higher in fiber and nutrients. However, in addition to the type of pasta you pick, what you top it with is just as important.
Now to Noodles… What is Noodles?
They are staple foods in many cultures, but they originated from the Chinese. They are made from unleavened dough, which is stretched, extruded or rolled into one of a variety of shapes. Many varieties are cut into waves. The type of noodles commonly consumed in this region (Nigeria) is the Instant Noodles. These are precooked and dried noodle block with flavouring powder and seasoning oil. Common ingredients in the flavouring powder are salt, monosodium glutamate, seasoning and sugar.
Instant Noodle are very much easy to prepare, one reason students love to have it their food shelves. The issue I have with instant noodles is that, they are low in Calories, but also low in Fiber and Protein. With only 4g of protein and 1g of fiber per serving, a serving of instant noodles likely won’t make much of a dent in your hunger or fullness levels. So despite being low in calories, it may not benefit your waistline.
