VITAMIN C

Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is a vital nutrient for health found in fresh fruits and vegetables such as orange and orange juice, strawberries, red and green pepper, broccoli, brussels sprouts and it is also sold as dietary product which is used to prevent or treat scurvy. It's an essential nutrient necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues.

Vitamin C is often referred to as healing vitamin because it has a very important role in wound healing by aiding the synthesis of collagen which is required for the normal structure and function of connective tissues such as skin, cartilage and bones.

FUNCTION OF VITAMIN C
The body need vitamin C for various functions, which are;

• It help absorbs iron.
• It helps the body produce collagen, L-carnitine, and some neurotransmitters.
• It enhances wound healing.
• It is an antioxidant which helps remove unwanted substances known as reactive oxidative species from the body.

Vitamin C is easily absorbed both in foods and in pills form, and it can enhance the absorption of iron when the two are eaten together.
