APPENDICITIS


Appendicitis is a tricky disease it's symptoms are pretty much common and vague. Appendicitis is the acute or chronic inflammation of the appendix which causes severe pain in the gasro vascular region.

The appendix is a small tube structure at the end of the large intestine with no discernible function.

Appendicitis is often accompanied by bacteria infection. An infection in your urinary tract or other abdominal organs may also cause symptoms similar to those of appendicitis. 

Appendicitis pain may start off as mild cramping. It often becomes more steady and severe overtime. It may start in your upper abdomen or belly button area, before moving to the lower right quadrant of your abdomen.

Appendicitis causes in many cases, the exact cause of appendicitis is unknown. 
Expert believe it develops when part of the appendix becomes obstructed or blocked. 

Many things can potentially block your appendix include;

1. A build up of hardened stool
2. Tumors
3. Traumatic injury
4. Enlarged Lymphoid follicles

Appendicitis happens when the inside of your appendix is blocked. Appendicitis may be caused by various infections such as virus, bacteria or parasites in your digestive tract.

It may happen when the tube that joins your large intestine and appendix is blocked or trapped by stool. There are reported cases of appendicitis which are caused by seeds of vegetables and fruits such as cocao, orange, melon, barley, oat, fig, grape, date, cumin and nut.

Appendicitis Symptoms
1. Pain in the region around the belly button
2.  Fever
3. Nausea
4. Loss of appetite
5. Constipation or diarrhoea
6. Inability to pass gas
7. Painful Urination

Foods you should eat;
Food rich in fibre are recommended to prevent diseases like appendicitis.

 These include;

1. Oats or wheat gram over break fast cereal
2. Whole-wheat flour instead of all purpose flour
3. Brown rice instead of white rice
4. Fresh fruits for dessert

Foods you should avoid
1. Fried food are fatty can irritate the digestive system
2. Alcohol harms the liver and thus affect digestion
3. Red meat contains a lot of fast and is difficult to digest
4. Cakes, pastries e. t.c that contain too much sugar

Treatment
1. Surgery to remove your appendix
2. Needle drainage or surgery to drain an abscess
3. Antibiotics
4. Pain delivers
5. IV fluids
6. Liquid diet

In rare cases appendicitis may get better without surgery. But in most cases you will need surgery to remove your appendix. This is known as an appendectomy.
