Maintaining Hygiene in Kitchen

Essence of Hygiene in Kitchen

MAINTAINING HYGIENE IN KITCHEN
The best way to keep your kitchen clean is to make a habit of cleaning up as you work, and taking care of a few chores each day to avoid foodborne diseases. The following tips are the ways of maintaining hygiene in the kitchen.

Clean up after each meal.
Meal preparation and eating can make a mess in the kitchen.  One of the best ways to keep your kitchen clean is to clean food and dishes after each meal. After each meal;
• Clean the table
• Transfer leftovers to airtight containers and store them in the refrigerator or freezer.
• Wash, dry and put away all the dishes.
• Clean spills crumbs and messes from the gas cooker, stove, floors, table and counters.
• Wash out the sink.

Clean your garbage disposal regularly.
The garbage disposal can harbour dangerous bacteria and offensive smells but regular cleaning will prevent this. Clean the disposal at least once a week by;
• Filling an ice cube tray with vinegar
• Pouring baking soda into waste disposal.   Baking soda is great for absorbing smells, though it doesn't happen instantly.

Clean the refrigerator and freezer
The refrigerator is where you keep most of your food, so it's important both for your safety and cleanliness to keep this appliance clean.  Once a month, remove all the food from the refrigerator and freezer and wipe the drawers. Wipe the surfaces dry and return the food.

Sweep the floor daily
Kitchen floors get messy very quickly with dust, crumbs, food particles, and other matter. To keep the floor clean, sweep or vacuum the floor in the kitchen every evening after the final meal, or each morning before breakfast.
• Sweeping regularly around the whole house will help minimize dust and allergens throughout the house as well.

Clean the kitchen rags regularly
Kitchen rags are a must-have to make your work easy. However, wet or greasy kitchen rags are a storehouse of germs and bacteria.
Make sure you periodically sanitize the cloth you use to wipe the kitchen counter and utensils. Wash all the kitchen clothes that includes mitten, scrubbers,  aprons.

In conclusion, I can assure us much more that following the tips above will make it possible to consistently keep the kitchen clean and hygienic. Always remember to wash your hands before getting started with any cooking process and after touching surfaces that could be dangerous to your health.
