Water is a universal solvent, it's probably the most stable compound in creation and it's the single most important compound for the support of life. Every drop of water we drink today has been recycled countless time on the earth's hydrologic cycles. Water is absolutely essential for survival. It plays a part in almost every bodily function; from breathing to thinking. You can go many weeks without food but only a few days without water.
Here are a few ways our bodies use water;
• It required to transport nutrients throughout the body via the bloodstream.
• It stabilized and cools us, allowing us to maintain proper body temperature; Staying hydrated is crucial to maintaining our body temperature. Body loses water through sweat during physical activity and in hot environments. Sweat keeps our body cool, but our body temperature will rise if we don't replenish the water we lose. That's because our body loses electrolytes and plasma when it's dehydrated.
• It hydrate our skin from the inside – it's the best lotion around!
• It prevents overall dehydration; Dehydration is the result of your body not having enough water. And because water is imperative to so many bodily functions, dehydration can be very dangerous.
Severe dehydration can result in a number of severe complications, including: swelling in brain, kidney failure, seizures. It's advisable to drink enough water to make up for what's lost through sweat, urination, and bowel movements to avoid dehydration.
• It dilutes toxic substances that our cells produce during metabolism and carries them away. It is part of every cell. About 70% of our body is composed of water.
Saliva is use to moisten and predigest cooked food in our mouths.
• It helps create saliva; Water is a main component of saliva. Saliva also includes small amounts of electrolytes, mucus, and enzymes. It's essential for breaking down solid food and keeping the mouth healthy. Body generally produces enough saliva with regular fluid intake. It helps to keep the colon clean. Our large intestine is like a sewer system; keeping the hydrated helps keep it clean.
• It dissolves minerals build-up in the body, helping to eliminate arthritis and heart disease.
• It aids in digestion: Contrary to what some believe, experts confirm drinking water before, during, and after a meal will help your body break down the food you eat more easily. This will help in digestion of food more effectively and get the most out of meals.
How much of water should we drink?
Being attentive to the amount of water we drink each day is important for optimal health. Most people drink when they're thirsty, which helps regulate daily water intake.
So, ideally men should consume about 100 ounces (3.0 liters) of water from beverages, and women, about 73 ounces (2.12 liters) from beverages. It's advisable to increase water intake if you're exercising or living in a hotter region to avoid dehydration.
In our daily metabolic functions , our bodies lose between 4 and 6 pints of water. We lose water when we breathe, when we unirate and when we sweat,; its imperative that all this water be replaced. By eating raw fruits and vegetables we can supplement our water intake. Generally, fruit contain the most amount of water – round 88% , while vegetable contain slightly less. If we eat raw fruit and vegetables, our body need less water outside of the food source.
• It's advisable that when eating cooked food, we should drink enough liquid for easy digestion.
• It's advisable all round for you to hydrate your body by eating vegetables and fruits and sipping water and juices throughout the day.
Gradual, steady ingested of fluids and nutrient is the optimum way of heal and feed your cells. And the cleaner and more nourishing your hydration is, the more gratitude your body will show you by setting you free of pain and ailments.
Water is important to nearly every part of your body.
Here are some ideas for how you can be sure you drink enough:
• Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go. This way you can drink whenever the need strikes.
• Keep track of your intake. Aim to take in optimum amounts every day, a minimum of half your body weight in ounces.
• Pace yourself to approach half of your recommended consumption by midday. You can always finish about an hour before you plan to sleep.
