           ADVANTAGES OF SUGAR

   Sugar is a white crystalline carbohydrate used as a sweetener and preservative in foods and drinks. Sugars are carbohydrate that provide energy for our body. Sugar is a natural ingredient that has been a part of our diet for thousands of years which are found in our everyday foods and used in food production and cooking.

   There are different kinds of sugar, starting with simple sugars called monosaccharides which comprises of glucose, fructose, and galactose. There are also more complex forms called disaccharides which comprises of sucrose, maltose and lactose.

Glucose also known as dextrose, grape sugars and corn sugars can be found in fruits and plant juices. Fructose or fruits sugar can be found in fruits, fruits juices, vegetables and honey. Galactose is found in dairy product, milk and milk products, avocados, and sugar beets.

Sucrose is found in almost all plants such as sugarcane, table sugar, and beet sugar, being rich sources. It is the commonest sugar in the diet and it contains one molecule of glucose and one molecule of fructose. Maltose or malt sugar consist of two molecule of glucose and found in all sprouted and malted products. Lactose are milk sugars consisting of glucose and galactose which is found in varying amount in the milk of all species of animals.

 The following are the advantage of sugar in the body:
·         Its provide energy for the body
·         It helps us have a clearer skin and reduce the risk of skin cancer.
·         It is cheap, easily accessible and has a long life shelf.
·         It makes many food or drinks more palatable i.e good enough to eat or drinks.
·         Sugar maintain the health and look of our skin with the helps of sugars glycolic acid.
·         Presence of sugar in the body helps the brain to function properly.
·         It reduce inflammation in the body.
·         It helps to heal wound faster in comparison to medicine because it was combined with fruits and spices to make medicinal syrups, powders, and infusions.

"Sugar is an energy source in which tastes good to us because sweet food like fruits are full of good stuff which give us energy, vitamins and minerals but too much of it can leads to a serious diseases.
