Hey guys! Come on, let's talk...

Let me lend my pen to this 'snacks issue' of a thing. The enlightenment we seem to get as touching Junks has resulted in a lot of misconception about Snacks. The first thing that needs to be clarified is the difference between Junks and Snacks. Really! What is Junk? What is Snack?

Junks are foods with very low nutrient value, but often high in salt, sugar or fat. These are foods with little or no value to offer your body system.
Snacks on the other hand are small portions of food, generally eaten between meals.

The point is not all junks are snacks and not all snacks are junks. Snacking in an appropraite manner is what I'd like to term healthy snacking.

Our friends & families live in fear of us anytime we become 'hangry'... I mean, hungry + angry. To prevent this, I believe in the power of snacks. Eating between meals allows you to fuel your body and prevent blood sugar drops. Blood sugar drops can lead you to over-eating at the next meal.
So really, snacks has its own benefits.

Healthy snacking helps one to maintain a healthy body weight. Healthy snacking includes foods that are low in energy density (calorie intake) but high in nutrient value. Foods that fall in this category includes potato chips, plantain chip, fruits, vegetable etc. They contain little or no amount of artificial sweetner or sugar.

No crime against snack, but be careful what you snack on.

In conclusion, snacking should be determined by your daily meals. Reason is the quantity of food some of us consume as meals doesn't require us snacking any longer. We need to do away with obesity & high blood sugar level problems.
