Nutrition & Immune System (2)

Nutrition and Immune System (2)

Good morning friends, trust the night was superb?

I’ll like to say happy weekend to you as we pick on back the series we’ve started about two weeks now

*Nutrition & Immune System*

I was able to give us a brief explanation of the key words. Don’t forget, Nutrition is the process of injesting, digesting, and absorbing vital elements in food, known as ‘Nutrients’ into the body system. While our Immune System does the work of military personnels, ensuring that there are no invasion of militants known as “germs” or “illnesses”. The immune system also helps remove foreign bodies and malignant cells from our system.

Last article was concluded on the fact that the link between nutrition and immune system is still a long-asked question in the heart of nutritionists and health professionals.

So to pick it up today, I’ll like to ask a question. Have you ever considered on an average, the difference between a well-fed person and someone whose diet is imbalanced? Often times, there’s a reflection in their outlook, most especially their state of health. Malnutrition always have a way of altering state of health, be it under-nutrition or even over-feeding. Many people only think of under-nutrition as the only form of malnutrition, whereas consistent over-feeding also results in over-nutrition which is also malnutrition. So whether it is too much or not enough, there is still an issue. That’s a why there is a mode of diet referred to as ‘Balanced Diet’.

The point is, it is quite obvious that the kind of nutrition often times reflect in the state of health of an individual or a group or people.

As much as I’ll really love to relate this article to adults, I discovered quite a number of things from my research that relates with infants and I’ll so much like to share a bit of information as regards that. According to Danone Nutricia Research site, (this is a body that have engage in numerous researches around the subject ‘Immune System’ for over 40 years now), it was discovered that our immune system isn’t usually fully developed at birth, and that the kind of nutrition a child is exposed to in his/her first 1000days greatly determines the strength of the immune system.

It is therefore very vital and important to pay close attention to nutrition during the early life of a child.

So as not to load us with too much of facts for today, I’ll like to bring the article today’s article today to a conclusion with this; immunity starts in the gut. About 70-80% of the cells that make up our immune system comes from the organs that make up our digestive system. This can be better understood by the fact that the gut is one of the major openings for germs and bacteria. The immmune cells do critical work here.

Thanks for reading!

I’ll pick it from here next week.
