Raising a family
Beautiful Saturday Morning...
And this is our first article in the month of May!
Please read to the end. One thing about us as humans, is our hope & dreams for tomorrow. Remember when you were in nursery? It got to a point Primary School was your dream. When you got to Primary, for most of us the dream was the last class (Primary 5). Only for you to get there and find yourself anticipating for Secondary School again. I mean Secondary school students sometimes wish they could just jump into higher institutions. Quite funny the way we are structured. Raising a family is the dream of many young people, I mean young men and ladies likewise. We've seen beautiful wedding pictures, family pictures and all. I mean pictures of very cute babies, beautiful & handsome looking, agile kids. And many just can't wait. We all desire good things.
As a Food Professional, there are a lot of things that excites me, but yet in the same vein, there are a few things that saddens me. Truth be told, I'm excited the level of progress being attained in food technology, development of machine-aided procedures for food processing and all that. But yet, there is a softly ongoing reality that we still just can't ignore. The fact that we have in our world different cadres of societies. There are societies with too much, they have a lot to waste. There are societies with too little, they can't but be undernourished.
Raising a family is a very good & nice thing, I mean so beautiful. Really! But at the same time, it comes with a lot of responsibilities. The children we raise are the future of our society. Men must weigh the demands before jumping into marriage.
The last time I checked, about 900 million people suffer from undernutrition, of which a higher percentage are Children & Women. Close to twice the number suffer from over-nutrition. So paradoxical!
Raising a family is awesome, but it comes with demands. UNICEF & WHO are trying their bests to profer solution. Companies like Nestle are always willing to offer helping hands. But while professionals are trying to solve the problem, don't compound to it again. If you can't reduce the percentages of undernutrition by helping charity organizations. Then at least don't increase it.
Marriage is good & sweet, especially with the right partner. But please kids are not dolls.
Every child has a right to good nutrition. Look before you leap.
I'd like to pause here... Maybe there'd be a series 2 of this article.
Thanks for reading!
